Tanzania & Zanzibar

Follow in Hemingway’s footsteps and tap into your adventurous side – teeming with wildlife, pristine natural surroundings, national parks and incredible animal sightings.

Tanzania’s oldest national park the Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, and more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. The Serengeti offers the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: The spectacle of predator versus prey dominates Tanzania’s greatest park.

The Ngorongoro Crater forms part of the unique Serengeti ecosystem. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area was a pioneering experiment in multiple land use where Maasai pastoralism, conservation and tourism could all co-exist harmoniously.

Upon entering Lake Manyara, the road winds through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest. Contrasting this is the grassy floodplain and its expansive views across the lake, to the jagged blue volcanic peaks that rise from the endless Maasai Steppes. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large water birds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks.

Tanzania’s cultural diversity – with its hundreds of local tribes, varying traditions, languages, cuisine and warm hospitality – is multi-facetted and will truly intensify your safari experience! A visit to the elusive Maasai, the snow-covered majestic Kilimanjaro or a magical evening under the starry sky makes for unforgettable memories in breathtaking surroundings.

Zanzibar

The so-called ‘Spice Island’ lies within the Indian Ocean and is the perfect way to round off and relax after your mainland Safari experience. A diversity of aromas – cinnamon, pepper, vanilla, cloves, as well as palm plantations, exceptional diving, contemporary hotel-resorts and endless beaches – await you.

Zanzibar has a colourful history – from pirates to stories of the slave-trade and everything in between! In light of this, a visit to Stone Town is a must!

The historic town, with its strong Arab and Islamic influence has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site and a stroll through the alleyways or a visit to the local markets should not be missed!
